My name is Smitha Navda, and I’ve been working as a landscape designer with Kirsten for over 3 years now. It gives me great pleasure to talk about myself and my landscaping company – “Rooted in Landscape” on Kirsten’s website. I have a degree in Landscape Architecture from Center for Environmental Planning & Technology in India, and a Certified Professional Horticulturist in Washington. Along with running a landscape design company, I have two beautiful children, who keep me going. Rooted in Landscape is a landscape design and seasonal container design company based out of Redmond, Washington. We offer an integrated approach – from consultation all the way through to install – which includes container design, project & garden coaching and garden design. We specialize in residential clientele– throughout the Eastside, Mercer Island and Greater Seattle areas. We are committed to creating custom outdoor living-space solutions while ensuring they are functional and also fits the budget.
Here’s some background of my association with Kirsten. I met her back in November 2016. We had recently moved from India to Seattle and I was on the lookout for opportunities in the landscape industry. Kirsten has been my mentor and guide to understanding the landscape industry in this area. She is open minded about her business and plant knowledge. It was in April 2017 when the idea of creating base maps using computer aided software for her was suggested by a client. This was something I was formally trained and I felt was a step to make her designs easily documented. Over the years we have refined this process to best suit the needs of her business and I’m extremely honoured to be part of this.
My association with Kirsten has helped me be a better person. Her business ethics and organisational skills have a profound influence on me and have empowered me to create a path for my own business. I owe my association with the landscape industry well known associations like WSNLA, NWFG show and WALP to her.
