Did you know that if trees are removed under your power lines that you may be given a certificate to get a new, more size appropriate tree? The service is brought to you by the Washington State Nursery and Landscape Association (WSNLA) in conjunction with many utility districts and cooperating nurseries.
To encourage their customers to remove unsafe trees, Snohomish County Public Utility District, Puget Sound Energy, Seattle City Light and City of Lynnwood may issue certificates to provide replacement plant material. The utility’s purpose is to replace oversized plant material with appropriate sized trees and shrubs so power lines are not compromised. Snohomish PUD certificates can only be redeemed in Snohomish and Island Counties as they are a private utility. The other certificates can be redeemed at any WSNLA member nursery.
When customers bring in their UtilityTree Certificate, it will be applied like a gift certificate to the purchase. The certificates are redeemable for one year from the date of issues. If they are over a year old, the customer should ask for an extension letter from the utility. Each utility will have a different face value for their certificates.
