Look out your kitchen window. Is there anything blooming? If you need an early spring bloomer to brighten these dreary days, then add Corylopsis pauciflora aka Winterhazel to your wish list.
Needing little to no pruning, summer leaf venation (yep, I’m a plant nerd), bursting with wonderful fall leaf color AND those incredible soft-yellow chains of bell-like flowers; this one needs to be at your home!
I almost forget to mention that it is even slightly scented, hardy to zone 6 and needs only occasional summer water after establishment. Growing slowly to 6′ tall x 8′ wide, plant in a part shade site that is out of hot afternoon sun.
